London Piano Course (Sep 2022) - Online Ticket (Full Day)
Join us online or in person for the first of our London Piano Courses which takes place on 24th September 2022 in our new studios in central London! This full day course features a variety of presentations, performance workshops and a Q&A session.
For those able to join us in London, it’s an ideal opportunity to get feedback on your playing, help with specific challenges and trouble spots, and general encouragement in a convenient central location.
If you aren’t able to participate in person, you can still learn and gain inspiration from observing the sessions online. There will also be opportunities to ask questions via chat during various sessions and in advance for the Practice Q&A. The sessions will be streamed and all participants will receive high-definition recordings of them after the event.

Event schedule
Please note that all times are given in British Summer Time (GMT / UTC + 1) and online coverage for each day starts at 9:30am. Times for the afternoon sessions are subject to minor changes depending on performer numbers and questions received.
Presentation: How to Learn a New Piece (9:30 – 11:00) – Building firm foundations in the note learning stage pays dividends later, especially if we plan to perform the piece. In this presentation, Graham will use examples from the repertoire to illustrate how best to start the learning process. This will include deep learning and memorisation techniques, which will enhance your appreciation and enjoyment of the craft of practising. As with all the activities during the day, there will be plenty of opportunities for Q&A.
Presentation: Aspects of Style in the Baroque, Classical and Romantic Periods (11:30 - 13:00) - Am I allowed to use the pedal in Baroque music? How do I manage all those pesky ornaments, and what do all those short slurs mean in Mozart? What is rubato and are there any rules for how it should be done? Graham will address these questions and many more in this workshop, featuring examples from the three main style periods. Questions from online and in-person participants are also most welcome!
Performance & Practising Workshops (14:00 – 17:30, with a 30min break) – The afternoon sessions feature a performance workshop and a practice Q&A session. The performance workshop is Graham’s take on a masterclass giving in-person participants the chance to play a piece (or part thereof) and then work with Graham directly on general feedback or specific areas. This will be followed by a session in which Graham will address practising-related questions submitted in advance by all participants, including our online audience.
