Chapter 16 - Ties and Dots

Dots - not to be confused with staccato marks – make notes longer by 50%. A crotchet = 1 beat a dotted crotchet = 1½ beats. A minim = 2 beats a dotted minim = 3 beats. Rests can also be dotted. A double dot adds a further 25% to the duration of the note, so a double-dotted crotchet is worth 1¾ beats. ...
