The coda brings back the thematic material and rhythm of the B section’s first phrase, this time built on a dominant pedal in the key of B-flat major, which in the final measures sinks somberly back to B-flat minor. This last reduction shows the harmonic skeleton of this section. The most technically challenging aspect of this section is the left hand which, as in the B section’s first phrase, contains large stretches and requires finger substitutions and careful pedaling.
